Clean your house today, save the world tomorrow

“Let everyone sweep in front of his own door, and the whole world will be clean.”
-Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

One of the greatest temptations of the internet is adopting everyone’s problems. With a click of a button, you can see the world’s dirty laundry. Wars, famine, disease, infidelity, corruption, you name it, and in a world of eight billion people, the problems are endless.

The world’s issues are far more interesting than yours. Getting into shape isn’t flashy, but a cabal of pharmaceutical executives intentionally poisoning us? Sign me up. Let me fixate my attention on that rabbit hole.

It’s not just that the problems you see on your phone are sexier than your life, they’re also unsolvable. They require nothing from you. You’re not going to solve an international crisis. Not today, at least.

Clean up your house first. Global conflict tomorrow.

Home maintenance includes both the indoor, and as was the case here, outdoor environment, and is an ongoing process with which a homeowner need to keep up in order to provide for a healthy living space. Keeping your porch dust free reduces the amount of contaminants tracked into the house. This woman was in the process of cleaning her home’s porch using a broom. In this way, airborne particulates, including dust and pollen, could be removed from this area of her home, reducing the detrimental effects upon her family’s respiratory systems.
