Today’s Quote

It’s 218 BC and all of the Mediterranean is at war. Rome and Carthage, the two superpowers of the time, are interlocked in battles ranging from Italy to North Africa.

In the center of the conflict is a young, ambitious general fighting for Carthage, Hannibal. He’s been moving his army of infantry, calavry, and elephants along the shoreline of modern day Spain and France and now is on the doorstep of Italy.

That doorstep, being the alps. Thousands of men, horses, and elephants in tow with snow beginning to fall from the sky, crossing the mountain range is an impossible task. Hannibal’s counselors told him as much and begged him to consider an alternative or lead a campaign elsewhere. And that’s what brings us to today’s quote:

“I will either find a way or make one.” -Hannibal

The mighty alps were no match for his resolve and Rome would not be able to hide from his war elephants.
