Garbage in Garbage Out
“A fool takes in all the lumber of every sort that he comes across, so that the knowledge which might be useful to him gets crowded out, or at best is jumbled up with a lot of other things, so that he has a difficulty in laying his hands upon it. Now the skillful workman is very careful indeed as to what he takes into his brain-attic.”
-Arthur Conan Doyle
GIGO.
Garbage in, garbage out.
This acronym originates from the technology sector. Essentially it doesn’t matter how smart your computer or algorithm is. If you feed it garbage data, it will only spew garbage.
Seems even more obvious now in a world full of LLM’s. Imagine you only trained ChatGPT on SpongeBob Square Pants and The Food Channel. No matter how many times you asked it to write your work emails for you, it could only spit out real world crabby patty recipes.
Not helpful!
Take a moment and self assess. Stop eating at the Krusty Krab, turn off the British Bakeoff, and put some goodness upstairs.
Help share good lumber, share the link!
