God's Punishment
“I am the punishment of God. If you had not committed great sins, God would not have sent a punishment like me upon you” -Genghis Khan
I’m not sure God or the Devil was aiding Genghis Khan. However, I am certain that it had to be one of them. Few historical figures have wreaked more havoc.
We have a short memory. We like to list dictators of the 20th century as the most menacing figures of human history, but Genghis can go toe to toe with any of them.
During his reign of terror, he ruled over 17 percent of the earth, an empire spanning 28 modern-day countries.
He collected wives like territories. 500 women bore his children. Today, 16 million people carry his DNA.
In his wake, he piled 40 million bodies. His armies killed so many people you can measure the drop in atmospheric carbon during his reign. Scientists have sinisterly coined him "The Greenest Invader". A lethal climate activist.
Divine retribution? It's hard to argue he was anything but inevitable.
He certainly believed it.
