I Will Move the World

Eureka! Eureka!

“Give me a place to stand, and a lever long enough, and I will move the world. ”
-Archimedes

Archimedes was a renowned mathematician from the third century BC. He allegedly ran naked through the streets of Syracuse screaming “Eureka! Eureka!” after pioneering the principle of buoyancy. Legend also claims he weaponized large mirrors to harness the sun's power and burn invading ships.

These stories, like many others tied to Archimedes, are probably apocryphal - a term for stories that are widely believed to be true but lack authenticity or historical evidence

Yet whether rooted in reality or not, such stories have shaped our culture and deserve serious consideration. They've also given us some pretty great quotes.
