Make Them Bleed

This past week I was glued to my phone watching a Last Man Standing Ultra running race. Runners repeated a four-mile loop on the hour, every hour, until only one runner remained. By design, every single runner will DNF the race except the winner.

A little over 24 hours into the race (100 miles of running) only two runners remained. The Texas sun was beating down and the end looked imminent. It was not. The race continued for 200+ miles, only ending when a severe storm blew in and forced the event to end early.
