Reread it. Sounds a bit modern for Socrates, don’t you think? Well it is Socrates! Just not the one you’re thinking of.

This isn’t an example of Churchillian Drift, but it’s in that neighborhood. This quote is from the book “Way of the Peaceful Warrior.” The book is a fictionalized memoir of the author, world-class gymnast Dan Millman. His spiritual leader in the book?

A nighttime gas station attendant who offers such sage advice that he nicknames him “Socrates.”

As for now, I’m coining this type of behavior "The Socratic Shuffle.”
