Stay Focused and Swing Big

“I did not succeed in life by intelligence. I succeeded because I have a long attention span.” -Charlie Munger

The late Charlie Munger and his business partner Warren Buffett are the poster boys for long term thinking. For them, it was never about being fast, clever, or the “smart guy”.

Munger and Buffett are famous for the idea of waiting for the “fat pitch” when it came to investing. The “fat pitch” was based on baseball player Ted Williams. Ted is the only player to ever hit above .400 in a single season in the MLB. His secret? He would only swing at pitches that were in his sweet spot. Any other pitch, even if technically in the strike zone, he let pass by. When opportunity arrived, he was ready and struck with full force.

And so it is the same with Munger and Buffett. Focused, methodical decisions are why these two remain the North Star of the business world.

Stay focused, then swing for the fences.
