Now to the quote of the day!

“The cowards never started and the weak died along the way”

-Bill Bowerman

Bill Bowerman. Legendary track and field coach at the University of Oregon and the Dr Frankenstein behind the Nike running shoe.

Over the course of his coaching career Bill collected national championships, Olympians, All Americans, and more than a dozen sub four minute milers. Bill believed in one speed.

Fast.

Phil Knight speaks to this in his memoir Shoe Dog:

“Bowerman’s strategy for running the mile was simple. Set a fast pace for the first two laps, run the third as hard as you can, then triple your speed on the fourth.”
