There's no going back
“There’s this feeling that once you leave where you’re from that you don’t totally belong there again” -from the movie Aftersun
You take a gap year, you go away for school, you take a job in another city and this becomes reality. Home may still look like home, smell like home, have all the same people that make home, home. But something has changed.
Things have shifted in your absence and now you’re a puzzle piece that doesn’t quite snap back into the jigsaw. It doesn’t even have to be geographic relocation. Anyone who has gone through a personal change has felt this. Once you leave, you can return to your old self, but it won’t ever be the same.
There’s no going back, and that’s okay.
