Three words for life

"In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: it goes on." -Robert Frost

You probably read Robert Frost’s poetry in your high school English class, his most famous piece is titled "The Road Not Taken”.

I’ve never been a fan of the advice “life goes on”. It comes across as apathetic. But the more you know about Frost the more you realize he deeply understood and felt this truth.

He lost his father at the age of 11, his mother at 26, his sister died in a mental hospital, his wife suffered from cancer till heart failure took her, and four of his six kids passed away before he did. A life riddled with tragedy.

Robert channeled much of his pain through his work but never was consumed by it. On his grave stone are inscribed his own words: “I had a lover’s quarrel with the world”
