"Losing your head in a crisis is a good way to become the crisis." — C.J. Redwine

All across the South, Midwest, and East Coast, toilet paper and Pop-Tarts are becoming a scarce resource. A pending snow and ice storm will hit tomorrow and carry into next week, so understandably people are getting prepared. You may be reading this realizing your affairs aren’t yet in order and you’ve started scrambling to make a grocery list. I hate to break it to you, don’t even bother trying to get any strawberry Pop-Tarts or TP.

The tasty breakfast treat’s sales often spike more than seven times their regular volume ahead of a looming storm, and toilet paper is the first item sold out. So why do we clamor for toiletries and sugary sustenance?

We don’t know how to handle different.

Most of us live pretty normal, repetitive lives. When something unexpected comes along, it’s a massive shock to our system. The reality is that even on your Pop-Tart diet, you will run out of food before you run out of TP. Whether you’re facing crisis today, next week, or later this year, take a moment and gather yourself.

Keep your head and then use it.
